Some Surprises are Good

This past Sunday our church family surprised us with a wonderful gift of money to use for our adoption. We had no idea what they were up to when they called us up front, so we were a little shocked and overwhelmed. I was truly speechless. Romans 12:15 tells us to mourn with those who mourn and to rejoice with those who rejoice. Our precious friends at UBC have certainly been there for us in the mourning time and we are so blessed to share our joy with them now. We thank God for the priceless treasure of this family we now have.

No new adoption news. I am expecting to find out something next week. I will keep you posted. We have been on the waiting list for three months now. It feels much longer...

One Year Later

It was just about a year ago that we started this process of adoption. It is hard to believe a year has gone by already. When we started our adoption, I naively expected to be traveling to Vietnam about now. Much has changed since we began and now we are in the middle of so many uncertainties regarding Vietnam adoption. We still have faith that our adoption will be completed and we will be bringing home our baby girl some time this year. I have learned so much during this time and God has been working in our lives to prepare us for the changes that will occur very soon. I believe in His timing and I am content to wait for Him. Patience has never been my strength but I am learning. I will be emailing our agency in two weeks to find out where we are on the list!

Getting Closer!!

Today we received an email from our adoption coordinater and we are now Number 6 on the list! I was pretty excited about that!! They got five referrals last week so that means there is a possibility that we could be in the next batch or, at least, in the one after. I was looking forward to being below 10 and it happened quickly. Dean and I were talking at dinner and we feel pretty certain now that our daughter has been born and is living in an orphanage somewhere right now. That is so surreal to think about. Please pray for her and for those that are looking after her. I think it is time to start getting ready for her! Babies R Us, here I come!!

God is good!!

Today we received very exciting news!! We received a letter from Shaohannah's Hope that we have been given a grant for our adoption! Shaohannah's Hope is a foundation that was started by Steven Curtis Chapman, who has adopted three daughters from China. We are so grateful and surprised to find out that we have been selected for a grant. It came at just the right time. Vietnam adoptions are in upheaval right now and it is so discouraging, but the news today was a reminder that God is still in control and He is working in our lives. When Dean called me with the news I had to cry with relief just knowing that God is working out all of the details for us. He is so good to us. Please continue praying for us and for the situation in Vietnam.
