The Old Quarter Revisited

We ventured out to the "old quarter" again today and it went much better this time. It was still hot though. One of the things I wanted to do while we were here was to visit the quilt shop I had read about on the internet. It is run by a nonprofit organization that helps to train and employ women in rural villages to hand make quilts so that they can stay in their community and raise their children. The quilts are sold in shops in Hanoi and Ho Chi Min and on the internet. I really wanted to get one for Anna to have so we found that shop first and bought her this beautiful quilt.

We also wanted her to have an ao dai, the traditional dress of the Vietnamese women. We went to "silk street" and found her two silk ao dais. They are big on her but we didn't pay the money to have one made for her as she will outgrow it soon. These will fit her for a long time! Here is my favorite one.

We have been keeping up while in PA by going to Oakview and "borrowing" their wireless. I love the picture with the blue silk outfit.

We're back from the Family Reunion and are now caught up on all you wrote and sent. What fantastic pictures! The quilt was such a great idea! How beautiful! And the ao dai will always be special for Anna Grace. There's so much more that could be said about the wonderful pictures, but the picture of Dylan leaning on Anna Grace is absolutely priceless. We laughed and laughed at all the captions that could be put under them. Great picture! We so enjoyed seeing the happy pictures of Mommy, Daddy, and Allie loving Anna Grace!
The family reunion was really nice!
The weather was perfect, the food was abundant and delicious, and the hay ride was a hoot. Those present this year were Ed & Jane, Nancy's, Eric's, Jessica, your folks, Beth's, Donald & Bessie, Hazel & Wade (empty nesters), Bess, Dale's and us....a total of 28. We missed you all, but are hoping Anna Grace can make her debut in the Family Reunion next year. Hugs for all of you!

I keep looking at all of your pictures and they make me smile every time I see that great big smile of Anna's. You can tell she is in love with her new family. She looks like a very happy baby, way different than the pictures of before she met you. I love the quilt! And that picture of her in her ao dai with her great big smile, priceless.
